Cleveland Police Suspend 2 Officers Accused of Having Affairs

Cleveland (WDEF) – The Cleveland Police Department has put two more officers on leave while the investigate whether each was having an affair.

The latest cases started started on Thursday when the administration became aware that one of their officers was involved in an extramarital affair.

Interim Chief Mark Gibson launched an internal affairs investigation, which uncovered that another officer was also possibly involved in an extramarital affair.

Both Carl Walls and Chad Nave have been put on leave during the investigation.

The department also says that the woman that Walls was allegedly involved with, filed a sexual assault complaint against him Friday morning from the hospital.

She says it happened in Sevier County last weekend, but no report has been filed there.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Department is investigating her accusations.

Cleveland Chief Mark Gibson said: “I am embarrassed and ashamed of the unbecoming conduct of these officers. This is unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. We will take swift and concise action to resolve this. If the investigation shows that departmental policies have been violated, it will be dealt with in the appropriate manner. Any criminal violations will be dealt with by the District Attorney’s office in Sevier County.”

Sex scandals have plagued the department over the last few years, with two chiefs resigning for having affairs.

The last two chiefs left because of sexual scandals (not counting David Bishop, who quit after one day for medical reasons).

Wes Snyder admitted to regularly rendezvousing with a married woman in a storage unit.

His replacement, Dennis Maddux was caught on video trysting with the wife of one of his forensic officers.
