Collegedale Motor Officer critically injured in off-duty crash
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Collegedale Motor Officer was critically injured in a off-duty motorcycle accident Sunday October 13, 2024.
Corporal Enoch Hurd was traveling with a group of friends on the Cherohala Skyway, a mile inside the state of North Carolina, when the crash occurred.
Hurd and another vehicle pulling a trailer were the only ones involved.
The Collegedale Police Department said the only injuries reported were Hurd’s.
After waiting 45 minutes and those on scene performing life saving measures, Hurd was unresponsive and was airlifted to a medical facility.
Hurd still remains at the medical facility receiving treatment.
“This is a tough time for all of us right now. Enoch’s family, both blood and blue, are holding
tight to each other and praying. This is a man who’s given so much to so many over the years. Please join us as we continue to keep Corporal Hurd in our prayers,” stated Chief Jack Sapp.
Hurd is a decorated 15 year veteran with the Collegedale Police Department.
He’s a member of the motorcycle unit and a founding member of the Special Operations and Response Team.
Hurt is a beloved member of the community and respected by many tri-state area law enforcement officers.
