Collegedale Police Officer Enoch Hurd Dies After Off-duty Motocycle Accident
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A police officer injured earlier this month in an off-duty motorcycle accident in North Carolina has died. He was escorted home this past Sunday. 52-year-old Corporal Enoch Hurd died this past Friday evening from injuries sustained in the crash that occurred on Oct. 13th.
According to the initial release by the Collegedale Police Department, Hurd was riding his motorcycle with friends when he and a car pulling a trailer collided.
Hurd, who is a father of three, has served his community with integrity and honor for over 15 years. According to friends and family, Hurd spent his free time with his family and even participating in racing as a Ferrari Challege Driver.
Family members, friends, hospital staff, and fellow officers lined the hospital hallways for his final honor walk. As Hurd was always a helping hand in the community, he has continued to help others through organ donation in his final act of kindness. On Sunday, Enoch Hurd was escorted back to his home in Hamilton County from Knoxville.
The Collegedale Police Department is welcoming the community to come to the Collegedale City Hall Building to show their respect by his motorcycle under the flagpole.
