Collinsville man arrested on drug and child abduction charges

FORT PAYNE, Al. (WDEF) —  A Collinsville man was arrested on drug charges and attempted child abduction.

Collinsville Police Department (CPD) was dispatched to a local Piggly Wiggly for attempted child abduction September 27, 2024.

When CPD arrived on scene, they began talking with the juvenile victim and their family.

DeKalb County investigators also responded, and were able to get a description of the suspect based on interviews with family members.

On September 29, 2024, CPD was dispatched to apartments on Truman Lane for an unrelated call.

While on scene, CPD was talking to the subjects in relation to the call.

CPD reported that it was determined one subject matched the suspect description from Piggly Wiggly.

DeKalb County Investigators responded to the scene and were able to identify Cordell Quenton Brand.

Brand was arrested on charges of Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs and was taken to the DeKalb County Detention Center.

After being interviewed by investigators at the detention center, it was confirmed Brand was the suspect who attempted child abduction at the Piggly Wiggly.

On top of the Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, Brand also received a 2nd Degree Unlawful Imprisonment charge.
