Comcast bringing cheaper Gig to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga now has options for high speed fiber service.

But soon those options will include a cheaper price.

Comcast has announced they will add Chattanooga to their early rollout of a 1 Gbps DOCSIS 3.1 service here.

Atlanta and Nashville got it last year.

15 other cities are getting it in 2017.

And now Comcast is adding us to the list.

Both EPB and Comcast now offer 10 Gbps connections for business and Comcast offers 2 gig for homes.

But the new DOCSIS is a much cheaper option for residents.

It starts at around $140 a month without contract.

The upgrade will require new modems and gateways in your home, but no new wiring.

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke says “We appreciate Comcast choosing our city as an early-adopter for DOCSIS technology that will serve our residents and businesses.”

“Their decision to invest in Chattanooga is a testament to our reputation as leaders in the next-generation economy.”
