Comedian Will Ferrell to Appear in Two MLB Spring Training Games

PHOENIX (AP) – Comedian Will Ferrell will appear in at least two Arizona spring training games on Thursday.

The Chicago White Sox confirmed the star of "Anchorman" and many other movies will appear in their game against the San Francisco Giants in Glendale and the San Diego Padres say he will play in their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Peoria.

The White Sox said a statement on the stunt will be made later Wednesday.

The Padres and White Sox announced last week they were moving back the start of their games on Thursday to accommodate a request by Major League Baseball, which is coordinating with HBO to film a special that day.  The two teams and others said there would be tapings at five games in an event that would emphasize fighting cancer.
