Commercial fire stopped at Gestamp’s
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A commercial fire was stopped from spreading at Gestamp’s on March 25, 2026.
According to the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD), Blue Shift companies responded to Gestamp’s plant on Jersey Pike and found smoke showing from the back of the facility around 1:30 p.m.
All employees were evacuated.
They say crews were dealing with an exterior fire that was moving interior via the plant’s filtration system.
The building was ventilated in order to remove smoke.
There were no injuries.
CFD says this was a labor-intensive response with at least 1200 feet of supply line laid from the hydrant on Jersey Pike to the fire scene at the back of the building. Relay pumping was also needed to boost water pressure.
Part of Jersey Pike in front of the plant was temporarily shut down for the supply line to support firefighting operations.
