Concrete repairs to affect I-24 West weekend traffic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County will have concrete repair operations ongoing on interstates over the next few weekends.

Friday, September 8 until Monday, September 11, the I-24 westbound exit 178, to Highway 27, will be down to one lane.

Broad Street and Williams Street entrance ramps to Highway 27 northbound will be closed.

I-24 westbound will be down to two lanes near the closed Highway 27 northbound on-ramp.

I-24 eastbound will not be impacted by construction.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is asking drivers to find an alternate route during this time.

“This extended lane closure allows the contractor to work continuously to expedite project delivery, minimize the overall length of time traffic is impacted, and provide safer conditions for drivers and crews working in the area. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Open lanes will be striped accordingly. Traffic control will be in place and signage will be posted guiding drivers through the closure,” TDOT said.
