Construction Has Officially Begun for the Miracle on the Mountain Play Outside Park in Grundy County

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) Tucked at the intersection of Highways 56 and 108, construction has officially begun on what will soon become Tennessee’s largest inclusive playground. The Miracle on the Mountain Play Outside Park in Grundy County is set to provide a unique, welcoming space for children of all abilities to play, interact, and thrive.

Grundy County Mayor Michael Brady shared that the concept for the park was born out of a desire to create something truly special for the community. “There was an idea early on about creating a playground that was in the shape of the county, with each city or community represented by a piece of playground equipment,” he explained. “We’ve taken that concept and made it larger — it’s about 26,000 square feet.”

The park’s design is not only distinctive but deeply rooted in the community’s identity. Each area of the park will reflect the legacy of different cities and communities within Grundy County, making it a place where the whole county is represented.

The Miracle on the Mountain Park will feature accessible, state-of-the-art equipment, a splash pad, and various play areas specifically designed for children with physical and developmental disabilities. It will be a space where no child is left behind, regardless of their abilities.

Mayor Brady emphasized the importance of creating an environment where every child can play together, regardless of their differences. “You want to see something sad? See a child have to watch other children play. How awesome is it where everybody plays? No child is left out. Every child is important, and to be able to come to a location or environment where everybody, regardless of ability, can play on the same playground and be a kid.”

As construction continues, excitement grows over the impact this park will have on the community, offering a place of inclusivity, fun, and connection for children and families across the region.
