Construction underway for new container homes in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Construction is underway for what designers are calling Hamilton County’s first ever luxury container home. It will be located on Chattanooga’s southside, just off East Main Street.

Seven, 40-foot cube containers will be turned into a 2,000 square foot home.

This innovative project aims to be clean and green, with plenty of luxury finishes.

“The fact that we got elevators, a green roof. You know, we don’t have many of those here, everything is all modern construction,” said interior designer Christi Homer.

Good things have been known to come in small packages, but this home should provide more than enough living space for a family.

“We wanted to take design to be much more conscious, these lots down here in the urban spaces are so small. So, we thought, “how can we contribute to a better, still very cool and still have a great look?” We have recycled green roofs which allow a little bit more of a soft and not a hard footprint and each home will come with upper floors and the roofs will be green and outdoor spaces,” said interior designer Christi Homer.

This luxurious home should be move-in ready in three months.
