Could you afford a “Home Alone” family now?
CHICAGO (WDEF) – The holiday season means a lot more viewings of the Christmas movie Home Alone.
It tells the story of a family with five kids who leave one of them at home by mistake on a holiday trip.
InvestorsObserver has crunched the numbers on just how much it would cost to raise that family of five today in Chicago.
And they put the number at $165,000.
That’s $36,000 more than the average couple makes.
Their analysis says the McCallisters would face the biggest budget deficit in Cleveland, Ohio.
Their bill would be $87,000 more than the average family has.
But growing up in Louisville is much more reasonable.
Families there make $65,000 more than the cost of their kids.
Experts at the financial analysis company says it shows that what we see on the movie screen does not always translate to the real world.
