SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The District Attorney says license plate readers helped track murder suspects across the country as they fled our area.

Michael A. Brooks and Kayla Brooks have been indicted by a grand jury with the murder of a man in Soddy Daisy more than a month ago.

District Attorney Coty Wamp says local investigators learned the couple was heading out west, and were able to use license plate readers to track their progress.

They were eventually caught in Washington State.

Michael Brooks has been charged with the shooting and Kayla as an accessory after the fact.

They both have been returned to Hamilton County and are awaiting trial.
