CPD deals with a cluster of four shootings in six days within 3.5 miles of each other

Two of the shootings were within the last 24 hours; one woman was killed

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Four shootings over the past six days in one particular area is what the Chattanooga Police Department is dealing with.

All of the sites where the shootings occurred are within three-and-a-half miles of each other.

Last Saturday, there were two: one was in the 100 block of Talley Road, and another in the 2200 block of Milne Street.

Within the last 24 hours, another two.

The first within the last day is in the 1800 block of Rubio Street, where CPD says a 22-year-old woman was killed.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a 19-year-old man was shot nearby, on the corner of Sholar Avenue and Wilson Street.

He was transported to a local hospital.

Police are investigating the motive.

Less than a quarter mile from that scene was this one, in the 2000 block of Lyerly Street.

Police say a domestic incident led to a 26-year-old woman being shot at the Highlands Apartments.

She was transported to a local hospital, but is in serious condition.

C-P-D released a statement to News 12, regarding the recent uptick in shootings.

Public Information Officer Sydney Hamon says “Even with the uptick in shootings, the general public is not in any immediate danger. We request patience and understanding with releasing information with ongoing investigations. We ask the public for assistance regarding any information that pertains to cases we are working on.”

With that, CPD asks that, if you have information on these or any other shootings, call the department.
