CPD Officer Shot on HWY 153 Released from Hospital

UPDATE: The officer who was shot on Highway 153 has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home, the CPD says.

The TBI is continuing to investigate the incident.


CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Chattanooga Police Officer was shot on Highway 153, prompting an emergency response that ended up in Sequatchie County on December 28.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were in Sequatchie County after a suspect shot a Chattanooga PD officer at the 5500 block of Highway 153 in Hixson at around 11:30 p.m.

The suspect then fled in the officer’s vehicle into Sequatchie County before ultimately crashing at the East Valley Road intersection.

The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody after fleeing on foot.

One officer was injured in the incident and is being treated at a local hospital.

The officer is in stable condition, according to the Sequatchie Post.

The TBI will be investigating this incident.
