Cracks on Signal Mountain Boulevard

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – After all the recent heavy rains, a large crack opened up on signal mountain boulevard above the space house.

Crews worked on it today during non-peak traffic hours from 9 to 3.

Slow down and anticipate delays when traveling through that area.

TDOT’s Jennifer Flynn tells us “We’re going to be milling and paving the crack so it won’t get any more water in it. So that’s going to be our temporary fix for that area until we can determine a more permanent fix. We don’t consider the roadway to be unsafe, we just want to make sure that it doesn’t- that that crack doesn’t open any wider.”

A third major stabilization project will begin later in the spring.
