Crew battling fires to save homes on Mowbray Mountain

MOWBRAY MOUNTAIN, Tennessee (WDEF) – Crews have been battling fires throughout the morning to save homes on Mowbray Mountain and Flipper Bend. Below is the latest information:

Flipper Bend wildfires:

Firefighters continue to be on the scene spraying water on the terrain below the homes of Boston Branch on Signal Mountain.

Teeneesee Forestry Division advises residents that the area continues to be unsafe, but will continue to have security by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

No structures have been damaged and no injuries have been reported.

 

Mowbray Wildfire:

Firefighters have been on the scene all day focusing on Arnat Drive and Bonnelia Circle.

No structures have been damaged.

According to Mowbray VFD Chief Chris Weddington, 30 homes continue to be endangered by the wildfires.

Air drops continue with fire retardant on Mowbray Mountain until dusk.

An assessment of the affected area will be reevaluated from Mowbray VFD Chief Weddington to determine if residents will be able to return to their homes this evening on Arnat Drive and Bonnelia Circle.

No injuries have been reported.
