Culture festival proceeds despite rainy weather

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Net Resource Foundation and the Westside Missionary Baptist Church hosted the first-ever “For the Culture Community Festival” on Saturday afternoon.

The event was impacted by the rainy weather, but various vendors and organizations still came out to support the event.

The festival took place at Southside Community Park on Sept. 16.

It was free and open to the public.

Small business owners were excited to attend the event for the first time.

“This event is great. We’ve had some rough weather, rainy weather. But we’re out here. It’s still been great people. It’s my first time out. It’s been a great opportunity, and I just love it,” Shandra Greer with Trice’s Expressions said.

The festival featured homemade wreaths, pottery, and jewelry.

Attendees enjoyed music and cultural foods as well.

Despite the rainy weather, attendees were still happy to be a part of the inaugural event.

The participating organizations hope to continue this event next year with better weather in the forecast.
