Cumberland County man charged with attempted murder
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) assisted in arresting a man who they believe is responsible for shooting a woman in eastern Cumberland County.
The TBI began assisting local authorities in the investigation on March 11.
They said a woman was shot at a home on Smith Mountain Road.
First responders took her to a Knoxville hospital by helicopter. She is still being treated for those injuries.
TBI detectives stated Jonathan Duncan, 29, of Rockwood, Tennessee is responsible for the shooting. They add that Duncan was an acquaintance of the victim, who has not been identified.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team arrested Duncan early Friday morning.
Duncan faces charged of attempted first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities booked him into the Cumberland County Jail on a $1,035,000 bond.
