Cumberland County teacher arrested on drug charges

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A part-time teacher at an elementary school in Cumberland County has been arrested on drug charges.

Deputies arrested 31-year-old Angela Elizabeth Anderson of Cookville, Tennessee.

A K9 became alert of a car in Pine View Elementary School’s parking lot on Thursday around 8:30 a.m.

School resource officers searched the car and found illegal drugs. According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, they found cocaine and marijuana in Anderson’s car.

The school system has suspended Anderson without pay, the sheriff’s office stated.

Authorities are charging her with simple possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacture, delivery or sell of cocaine.

They are holding her at the Cumberland County Jail on a $7,000 bond.

She will appear in court on January 8, 2024, according to the sheriff’s office.
