New lane pattern for Lookout Valley today

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Motorists on the Southside will want to keep in mind that Cummings Highway will get a continuous center turn lane on Monday.

TDOT started work this morning to re-stripe the road from the Walmart entrance down to the railroad tunnel, a distance of .7 of a mile.

That section of Cummings Highway has been the scene of numerous traffic accidents and at least one fatality in the last few years.

There will now be only one travel lane westbound….that’s away from the downtown area.

Chattanooga will change the traffic signals accordingly.
