Current, prospective foster families invited to upcoming Foster Care Summit

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanoogans and other local citizens can learn more about foster care at an upcoming conference.

Tennessee Kids Belong (TKB) is hosting their second annual regional Foster Care Summit on May 6. It will last from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Ridgedale Baptist in Chattanooga.

May is Foster Care Awareness Month. TKB explains that there is a high number of children in foster care who have an urgent need to be homed.

They created the Foster Care Summit to share this need with the community.

The conference was designed for prospective and active foster parents, according to TKB.

Guests can buy tickets for the conference at $15 per person. That includes a Q&A foster parent panel, a foster youth panel, connection opportunities, interactions with community partners. It includes breakfast and lunch as well.

To buy tickets, visit TNKidsBelong.org/summit.

Various local foster care agencies will attend the summit with informational tables.

The organization says its goal is to improve experiences and outcomes for foster children.

TKB assists in helping find homes for foster children, community engagement and partnering with coalitions to bring community change.
