DA seeks deposition of key witness in East Ridge cold case

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The District Attorney’s Office is asking to record the deposition of a key witness in a 17 year old cold case.

17 years ago, 21 year old Sarah Perry’s body was found in a garbage can.

The young mother of two small children had been strangled.

A few hours before she disappeared, Perry called East Ridge Police to request they check her home on Lockhart Lane for her estranged boyfriend, Jason Sanford.

She said Sanford had threatened to hurt her, and was trying to find her.

Jason Kirk Sanford of Westland, Michigan is charged in the June 2000 death of Sarah Perry.

A judge will decide if the D.A.’s Office can depose the witness in the case, who is suffering from cancer.
