Dade Co Football Hoping to Enjoy a Special Thanksgiving Breakfast
The history of Dade County football hasn’t been great in recent years, but they’ve managed to stack together back-to-back winning seasons.
And now the Wolverines are confident they can keep the good times going again this fall.
Dade County gets the 30-in-30 spotlight.
Dade County has made the playoffs the past two seasons, but now, the drive is a deep playoff run.
Said head coach Jeff Poston:”Our goal is to eat breakfast Thanksgiving morning after we practice. So that’s our goal this year.”
And what will it take to reach that goal?
Said receiver Demetrius Walker:”It’s more about being more physical because most people don’t like to hit, and we try to bring it to the table.”
Wolverines will feature a new quarterback this season in Bryson Schrader.
Said Walker:”He brings a smart skill set. He’s very slow and patient about where he’s throwing it, and who he’s throwing it to.”
Said Poston:”We’re blessed to have some skill guys to go with the quarterback who knows what to do with the ball.”
Coach Poston likes his roster, but like any good coach, he wishes it was bigger.
Reporter:”What’s the area of concern?”
Said Poston:”Depth.”
Reporter:”Does it look like most guys play both ways?”
Said Walker:”Yes sir.”
Reporter:”What’s that mentality like?”
Said Walker:”It’s just a grind. You’ve got to be in shape and put the work in.”
Wolverines may not have much depth, but they still have one of the best motto’s around.
‘Third Monkey M
entality’. It stems from Noah’s Ark. If there are three monkeys, then you gotta fight to make sure you’re one of the two to get on the boat.
Poston:”Somebody asked me in Waffle House last week what ‘Third Monkey Mentality’ was. Some guy from Michigan,.so I was happy to explain it. (chuckles) The kids buy into it man. They really do.”
