Dade County storm shelters open
DADE COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — There is a possibility for damaging winds and tornados this afternoon. Dade County is opening up their storm shelters to anyone in the community who might need a safe place to shelter.
In a Facebook post, the Dade County Emergency Management said, “ALL of our Storm Shelters are Open, Operational and FEMA approved to withstand winds of up to 250 mph.”
They listed three shelters in the post:
- Sports Complex – 9622 US-HWY 11, Trenton, GA
- South Dade – 265 School Street, Rising Fawn, GA
- Sand Mountain – 249 Davis School Road, Trenton, GA
They said you can also go to dadecounty-ga.gov to learn more about the incoming weather, additional shelters and closings.
In addition, Dade County Emergency Management said the Tri-State Food Pantry Lookout Mountain Distribution is cancelled. The NWGA Worship Center Food Distributions are postponed until tomorrow.
