Dalewood student charged with having gun on school property
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A school resource deputy recovered a loaded gun from a student at Dalewood Middle School.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said one of their deputies was assigned to the school. A school administrator told the deputy that a student could be in possession of a firearm.
This happened just before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Shallowford Road school.
They stated that the deputy located the student and safely removed them from class.
During questioning, the student admitted to having a weapon in their possession. The school resource deputy then took the firearm, and determined that it was loaded.
The deputy took the student into custody and transported them to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
The HCSO is charging the student with possession of a weapon on school property.
