Dalton Celebrates Soccer Town USA Moniker With More State Titles

 

Dalton, GA-(WDEF-TV) For the third straight year Dalton, Georgia, has once again become Soccer town USA. This time it was Dalton high school, Coahulla Creek, and Christian Heritage being named soccer champions. News 12’s Brian Armstrong finds out what it’s like to celebrate state titles with other area schools who also are the best in the state.

Dalton, Georgia, became Soccer Town USA once again, asthree schools from the Dalton area were able to join together to celebrate their state soccer titles.

Said Dalton coach Matt Cheaves: It’s amazing the support that we’ve got for soccer here in a town the size of Dalton, Georgia. It is truly amazing.It’s special, it’s unique.

Said Coahulla Creek coach Aurelio Jacobo:You don’t see it anywhere else. It’s just a great feeling overall to have this community here and just to celebrate this is really special.

The loudest cheer of all came when Christian Heritage was recognized for their first ever state title.The last boys team in the area to win one.

Said Christian Heritage coach Rachel Boyd: It feels complete now.We’ve come in the past and been able to celebrate the success we’ve had and then get to celebrate all the champions. And it’s really a unique opportunity that we get to be up there getting celebrated for the highest achievement like everybody else.So it feels complete that we were the last team on the boys side to get this done.

the Dalton area has to compete game in and game out against each other. But once the state tournaments come around, the schools are able to support one another during the state title runs.
