Dalton Fire Department alerts residents of upcoming fire training

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — Dalton firefighters will be conducting live fire training on two houses near the Christian Heritage School the next few weeks. Locals can expect to see smoke, fire and emergency vehicles in this area during the training.

The fire department will conduct the training between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on November 2, 3 and 7.

Firefighters will be training on buildings at 129 Keith Street and 131 Keith Street.

The opportunity to perform live-fire training in donated buildings like the two houses on Keith Street is a valuable chance to give firefighters and other personnel the opportunity to gain real world experience under live fire conditions that are difficult to replicate in the fire department’s training structures,” the Dalton Fire Department said in a press release.

It’s also important to note that the area is currently under a “red flag” fire warning, according to the National Weather Service. Citizens of North Georgia and the Tennessee Valley are currently under a burn ban because of the ability for fires to rapidly spread.

When asked about the timing of the fire training in regard to the burn ban, Dalton officials simply responded that “the fire department will take all appropriate precautions.”
