Dalton girl writes letter to President Trump
DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — A seven-year-old Dalton girl is in the spotlight, after she wrote a letter to President Trump, that grabbed his attention.
On Thursday, at White House press briefing, Sarah Huckabee Sanders read Mackenzie Koger’s letter. She then invited the girl and her family to a personal tour of the White House, lunch at the Navy Mess and to meet President Trump, if he’s in town.
Mackenzie’s mother says they were planning a trip to Washington DC and she was trying to sign up for a tour of the White House.
She contacted a congressman’s office, but was having trouble. So Mackenzie decided to take matters into her own hands.
“The calendar wasn’t open yet to plan out the trips yet. So he said he would be in contact with me and so Mackenzie just decided that she would write a letter to the President,” said Laura Koger, Mackenzie’s mother.
Mackenzie explained why she admires President Trump.
“He is our President and he is strong and he is brave,” Mackenzie said.
The family plans to go to Washington DC in April for spring break.
