Dalton man pleads guilty to trafficking meth
WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A judge has sentenced a Dalton man to prison after he pled guilty to trafficking meth.
According to county officials, 43-year-old Ramon Rodriguez, Jr. pled guilty to one count of trafficking meth and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Friday, December 1, Superior Court Judge Jim Wilbanks sentenced Rodriguez to 20 years in prison.
The county said that on November 22, 2021, Rodriguez was already on probation for distributing meth. After committing a probation violation, authorities arrested Rodriguez.
At this time, authorities said they searched his vehicle and found more than 2,000 grams of meth. Officers also found a large sum of money and a gun.
The State dismissed four of Rodriguez’s charges in exchange for his guilty plea.
The four charges dismissed were possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of meth, possession of a drug related object and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
