Dalton police investigating theft from banks
The Dalton Police Department is looking for information in identifying a suspect using stolen bank account information and a fake ID to steal $7,500 from a woman’s bank account.
The incident happened in early November. The victim, who lives in Palm Harbor, Florida, contacted Dalton PD after learning the money had been withdrawn from her savings account from a pair of Regions bank locations. Police investigations determined that a woman had taken the money out in a pair of transactions.
The first transaction was for $3,500 from the West Walnut Avenue location in Dalton, followed by a $4,000 withdrawal from the East Walnut Avenue location. Investigators spoke to bank employees and found the suspect had a fake Florida ID with the victim’s name and information on it. The woman was also able to answer several security questions from the victim’s account to complete the transactions.
The suspect was recorded on surveillance cameras at the bank branches. She is a Black female with shoulder-length dark hair and was wearing a gray zipper hoodie under a tan jacket with blue jeans. The suspect was traveling as a passenger in a white four-door Toyota Camry.
