Dalton Police looking for Walmart shoplifters
DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — Investigators with the Dalton Police Department are searching for two men who they say shoplifted more than $1,500 of merchandise early Monday morning.
The police department says on December 31, 2023, the two men stole $1,526.95 worth of items from the Walmart on Shugert Road.
The suspects entered the store together just after 6 a.m. and left the store around 6:40 a.m. with a shopping cart full of merchandise.
For the 40 minutes they were in the store, police explained the two walked around putting items in the cart.
Upon leaving, an on-duty greeter tried to stop them. One suspect kept walking out with the cart, and the other stopped to talk to the employee for a short time.
A suspect told the greeter they brought the items in to return them, but nobody was at the customer service desk. The employee asked to see their return sticker, but they left the store.
Police said the two men left in a white, four-door car.
Staff reported that the men stole 23 items from the store, including five robotic vacuums, several knives, two backpacks, clothing, a tent and two necklaces.
Here is how the police department described the suspects:
“The suspects were both Black males. One suspect had closely cropped hair and was wearing a white hoodie with purple pajama-style pants with an oval logo printed all over them. The second suspect wore jeans and a denim button up shirt with a white undershirt and a blue and beige flannel wool-lined jacket with a hood pulled over his head. Both suspects were pictured by store surveillance.”
The police department asks anyone with information on the crime to contact Detective Clinton Travis. Reach him at 706-278-9085, extension 9-231.
