Dalton Police Offer Reward of $10,000 For Information on Death of Paul Guerrant

DALTON, GA,(WDEF)-"It was a brutal brutal attack", Dalton Police, Detective Chris Tucker.

Investigators say two weeks of questioning and following leads have left them with very little information as to how 43 year Paul Guerrant was beaten to death.

"The crime scene, it was raining that night so a lot of our evidence in the crime scene was gone" says Tucker.

Surveillance video shows Guerrant walking along Frederick street close to Dozier Street where he was eventually found.

Dalton Police added Guerrant made a phone call to a friend at 9.28 that night of December 22nd and just 10 minutes later a 911 call came through.

"To gather more information to get some additional tips, we have offered a 10,000 reward we are wanting any information no matter how insignificant the information may seem".

Some community leaders say they have lived here all their lives and have never heard or seen anything like this ever before.

"No we are not used to seeing violence in this area, we are not used to seeing a person get beat up like the young man did a few weeks ago" says concerned resident David Sims.

Residents say they were familiar with Guerrant who that night was walking back from St Mark’s Episcopal Church.

"We seen three or four times but nobody never bothered him, you know, nobody confronted him or said anything to him about being in the community or anything."

Guerrant was transported to a local hospital and later to Erlanger where he was pronounced dead.
