Dalton police seek public’s help identifying suspect in wallet theft
DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — The Dalton Police Department (DPD) is asking the public to help them identify a man who stole someone’s wallet.
This incident occurred March 10, 2025 when the victim walked into the Racetrac store on Chattanooga Road at 7:15 p.m.
The victim dropped his wallet outside of the front door without realizing it, and continued into the store.
A short time later, an older man with a long grey beard was caught by security footage picking up the wallet.
He then walked up to the counter and talked to a man who was making a purchase.
DPD stated the man then put the wallet in his back pocket, and the two men left the store together in a red Toyota sedan.
The victim told DPD the wallet held two debit cards, identification cards, and $140 in cash.
The suspect is a male with shoulder length graying hair and a bushy gray beard.
He was wearing faded jeans, a faded red polo shirt, and a Budweiser racing jacket.
