Dalton roadwork to result in intersection closure

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — Dalton officials announced an upcoming intersection closure for construction. The intersection of Emery Street and Ridge Street will close for an ongoing stormwater management project.

This intersection, which is near the West Hill Cemetery, may close as soon as Monday, March 25, the city said.

Traffic Detour

Weather conditions could delay the construction.

However, once it begins, the intersection should remain closed for up to two weeks.

Construction crews will have detour signs posted. Emery Street traffic will detour via Lewell Street, Crawford Street and Valley Drive.

The city asks drivers to avoid the construction area when possible.

According to Dalton officials, this roadwork is part of the Ridge Street stormwater bypass project. Once this intersection construction is complete, crews will reduce Emery Street to one lane between Greenwood Drive and Ridge Street.

That will be the final steps to connect the new stormwater detention pond in the West Hill Cemetery.
