Dalton State Enjoys 17 Shot Lead After First Two Rounds of Road Runner Classic

Dalton, GA-(WDEF-TV) Dalton State is hosting some of the best NAIA golf teams in the country. The Road Runner Classic teed off on Monday at the Farm in Dalton.
All twelve teams taking part in the tournament are ranked in the top 25, including the Road Runners who are number three.

The teams played 36 holes on Monday and Dalton State built a 17 stroke lead after the first two rounds. The Road Runners stand at -9 while Keiser University is at +8.

S.M. Lee is leading the charge for Dalton State. The nation’s second ranked NAIA golfer fired a 4-under 68 over his first 18 holes. Then he backed that up with a five-under 67. Lee has the individual lead at -9. Teammate P.J. Shields is in second place at -6. Wayland Baptist’s Andrew Williamson and South Carolina Beaufort’s Newport Laparojkit are tied for third at -4.

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
