Dalton suspect charged with stabbing an officer with a screwdriver

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Dalton Police say one of their officers was attacked with a screwdriver Tuesday night during a domestic dispute.

They say Officer Joshua Bethune was treated for a scrape to his head.

He was the first to arrive at the home on Linden Drive.

The Dalton Daily Citizen quotes the police report in saying that family members say Anibal Sanchez was acting strangely, possibly on drugs and threatening his father.

The report says he fought Bethune and stabbed him with the screwdriver.

As more officers arrived, he was repeatedly tazed with no affect.

Only on the fourth and fifth tazing did they get control of him.

Sanchez faces a variety of charges, including aggravated assault on an officer.
