Dalton teen arrested after Monday night stabbing

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) – A teenager has been arrested in Dalton following the stabbing of another teen on Monday night.

Authorities say the stabbing happened around 9 p.m. near 4th Avenue.

Police say the victim and the suspect had a previous history of conflict.

Investigators say the suspect approached the victim and some others in a park and tried to start a fight. They identified the suspect as 18-year-old Blaine Bishop.

They say during the fight, Bishop stabbed the victim six times. However, Dalton Police say the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The witnesses got a vehicle tag number as the suspect fled the scene.

Police tracked it to Bishop’s residence and took him into custody after midnight. He faces an aggravated assault charge.

They also recovered the suspected knife at the home.
