DA’s office declines to prosecute Jeff Styles
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The aggravated assault charges against Talk Radio host Jeff Styles have been dropped.
The District Attorney’s office declined to prosecute him over a road rage incident in which he was shot in the arm.
The other driver who shot him claimed he was in fear for his life when Styles came at him with a camping hatchet.
But Styles maintained it was the other driver who made threatening gestures with a gun while following him.
And he only charged the driver in self defense.
Styles was fired from his job on the radio after being bound over to a grand jury.
But after reviewing the case, prosecutors decided to end the case.
A spokesperson for the office this afternoon said “After reviewing the case file and the recording of the preliminary hearing he found insufficient evidence to meet the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.”
We talked to Styles this evening about his reaction to the decision.
“I’m extremely thankful.. I really am. And I think that Lee Davis is a heck of an attorney. And I have to say that I think Neal Pinkson’s a very good DA. I thought that before, and I think it now. He’s had a lot on his plate and it’s not like my case is a top priority, you know… he’s had a lot to deal with. I just think he made the right decision. He realized that, you know, come on there just there wasn’t going to be twelve people in this area that were going to convict me of that, that foolishness.”
