Dayton Restaurant closes for good the week before Christmas

Jacob Myer's employed 25 workers

DAYTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – A prominent restaurant in Dayton has suddenly closed, just days before Christmas.

Jacob Myer’s On the River has been on Market Street looking over Richland Creek for 25 years.

But the General Manager says it shutdown Wednesday night, putting 25 people out of work.

Kevin Whitfield has established a Go Fund Me page for those workers.

The Rhea County Observer says they got a text from one of the owners who blames inflation of food, labor and utility prices, plus low sales.

The restaurant’s menu included steaks, seafood and gourmet sandwiches.
