Dayton’s Bryan College Makes Cuts

DAYTON, TN, (WDEF)-"We Want you back and encourage you to to come back in the fall."

Vice President Blake Hudson told News 12 the college will make major cutbacks in the coming months.

"First we looked at any expense cuts that we could make and we’ve also suspended payments to our retirement fund and lastly unfortunately, we did have to make some personnel cuts as well."

20 staff members will not be returning.
A statement from the university president, to staff last Friday said an enrollment drop of 100 students is a main reason.

"In the last two years we have seen smaller incoming classes which is a trend with other private schools as well. So this class that we just graduated was our largest graduating class ever"

Alex Maldonado, recent graduate,"I don’t know if you will actually enjoy staying in a college like this its definitely depends on the student and what they are looking for."

Jakob Ricketts, Senior, Communications, "I probably would go to Lee honestly, Lee’s a little less conservative than Bryan"

University officials say media coverage and recent lawsuits regarding the school’s mission statement are not responsible for the lack of enrollment.

Note- In video report 20 faculty are referenced; the following day Bryan College confirmed that it is not faculty who are being cut but staff in general.
