DeKalb County authorities investigating Mentone homicide

DEKALB COUNTY, Al. (WDEF) —  Authorities in DeKalb County are investigating a shooting that has been ruled a homicide.

At 6:16 p.m., April 10, 2025, DeKalb County 911 received a call from the 3000 block of US Highway 117 regarding a vehicle that struck a residence.

The caller also mentioned the male inside the vehicle had been shot.

Upon arrival, immediate aid was given to the victim.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), the victim was identified as 39-year-old Marcus Adam Battles.

Unfortunately, Battles died on scene as a result of his injuries.

Deputies secured the scene, as Battle’s death was ruled a homicide.

DCSO stated that this is an ongoing investigation.
