TBI: Highway 58 suspect hit deputies with car, deputies fired shots
UPDATE:
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has given a preliminary report on the Highway 58 deputy-involved shooting from Thursday night.
The TBI says that HCSO deputies were “conducting an enforcement operation” at the Zaxbys on Highway 58 in Chattanooga.
Deputies told a man to get out of his vehicle so they could take him into custody, the TBI said. However, the man refused to comply and tried to drive off. He hit at least one deputy with his car and hit three unoccupied civilian cars, the TBI added.
While the man was trying to flee, two deputies shot at the man and the bullets struck him.
First responders then took him to a hospital to be treated. They also took one deputy to a hospital as well.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is responded to work the accident that involved civilian vehicles.
The TBI’s investigation is ongoing.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County 911 logs show that a shooting happened at 4815 Highway 58 in Tennessee.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says this a deputy was involved in the shooting.
HCSO also says it happened at the Zaxbys on Highway 58.
One man was injured, but no deputies were injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
They are asking drivers to avoid this area.
The shooting happened at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8.
