Details of why woman was arrested after Florida to Nashville flight

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Court papers reveal details of why a woman was arrested after a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Nashville last week.

The incident happened on a Spirit Airlines flight on November 27th.

43 year old Amanda Renee Henry turned herself in to FBI agents in Nashville on Tuesday.

The criminal complaint says Henry became disruptive and seemed to be intoxicated.

It says passengers seated next to her asked to be move as a result.

But when flight attendants asked her to switch seats, she refused, grabbed her carry-on and ran to the front screaming, “I’m getting off this plane.”

When another attendant blocked her from the main cabin door and tried to restrain her, she fought back.

The complaint says she also hit another flight attendant who tried to help restrain her.

Now she faces a federal charge for the incident.

“In accordance with the Attorney General’s directive, the prosecution of those who endanger the safety of airline passengers, flight crews, and flight attendants is a priority of this office,” said U.S. Attorney Wildasin.  Those whose behavior disrupts or otherwise endangers the safety of persons on aircrafts should expect to face federal charges.”

Henry could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
