Disabled Woman Severely Burned in Home Fire

Chickamauga (WDEF) A north Georgia woman is being treated for severe burns after a fire broke out last night.

It happened around 10:45 at a trailer on Myers Road near Chickamauga.

Authorities believe the fire started on the back porch.

Two people escaped, but 71 year old Nevely Lewis was disabled and trapped inside.

Firefighters had to rescue her.

Today, the fire marshal reports she has been transferred to the burn unit at Emory hospital, where she is listed in stable but critical condition.

She suffered second degree burns to her chest.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
