Dobbs Performance Leaves UT QB Starter Uncertain For USC
It may have been another loss for the Tennessee Vols, but what they found in Saturday’s 34-20 loss to Alabama could salvage the Big Orange season. With Justin Worley out with nagging injuries, and Nathan Peterman ineffective, Tennessee turned to Josh Dobbs after falling behind to the Tide 27-0.
Dobbs responded by guiding Tennessee on three scoring drives, at one point cutting the 27 point lead down to 10 in the third quarter. Dobbs finished 19-32 passing for 192 yards and two touchdowns, adding another 75 yards on the ground.
Tennessee travels to South Carolina on Saturday. For now, the starting quarterback for that game is still up for grabs.
"We felt we needed to run the quarterback a little bit more, that’s why we stayed with him. We’ll continue to rep Nate and him. There’s no time table on Justin, we are in a wait and see mode. We will continue to compete and see whoever has the great week of practice," said Vols Head Coach Butch Jones.
