Dodge Demon hits the streets today, but is it too fast?

DETROIT, Michigan (WDEF) – Should the latest hot rod from Detroit be banned?

Dodge begins shipping their new Dodge Demon to dealers this week.

They are billing it as the first street-legal drag car available to the public.

But is that a good thing or a bad thing.

The limited-production muscle car is built for the drag strip, but is legal to run on American highways.

It goes from 0-60 m.p.h. in 2.3 seconds, finishing the a quarter mile at 140 m.p.h.

The National Hot Rod Association certified the Demon as the world’s fastest quarter mile production vehicle, and then banned it from competition.

And some say it should be banned from the streets, as well.

Automotive News calls the Demon “inherently dangerous.”

There will only be three thousand of the cars made this year for the U.S. market.

Starting price is $85,000.

Here is a review of the ride.
