Domestic Assault Suspect Arrested in Ringgold
Chattanooga (WDEF) – A suspect in a Chattanooga domestic assault has been captured in Ringgold.
James Winnie is suspected of shooting his estranged wife at a home on Sixth Avenue over the weekend.
Investigators say he drove to the house and started an argument with his wife and her brother, before shooting her.
She suffered non-life threatening wounds.
U.S. Marshals, Catoosa County deputies and Georgia State Patrolmen took him into custody just after midnight on Monday at a Motel in Ringgold.
They also found him with an ounce of meth.
He faces chrages of Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm and Felony Reckless Endangerment.
