Domestic kidnapping suspect arrested after leading police in pursuit

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A 23-year-old male has been arrested after leading Chattanooga Police (CPD) in a pursuit.

At 9:49 a.m., January 22, 2025, CPD responded to the 6300 block of Lee Highway on reports of an assault in progress.

During a 911 call, a witness at a local convenience store reported that a man was assaulting a woman inside a vehicle parked at a gas pump.

According to CPD, the woman was attempting to escape the vehicle, but the man pulled her back in by her hair.

Just as officers arrived on scene, the suspect was leaving the scene.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to cooperate.

The suspect began fleeing from officers, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of Germantown Road and Brainerd Road, when the suspect struck another vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has assaulted and kidnapped his girlfriend.

When officers searched the suspects vehicle, they located  a handgun with an extended magazine, drug paraphernalia, and a felony amount of suspected fentanyl.

The suspect, later identified as Marquise Pitmon, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Domestic Assault
  • Aggravated Kidnapping
  • Evading Arrest
  • Possession of a Firearm with Intent to Go Armed
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Drugs for Resale
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Reckless Driving.
