Domestic violence incident leads to pursuit

SCOTTSBORO — A domestic violence incident led to a pursuit and two being charged on April 29, 2026.

According to the Scottsboro Police Department (SPD), dispatch received a call regarding a domestic violence incident occurring in the 18000 block of Highway 35.

After providing brief details, the caller disconnected the phone, and officers were dispatched to the location.

As law enforcement personnel were arriving on scene, the vehicle described in the incident (a blue minivan) left the business parking lot at a high rate of speed.

Officers ultimately initiated a pursuit and caught up with the vehicle on Alabama Highway 79.

The suspect vehicle continued fleeing with two occupants inside, traveling onto County Road 21 toward Tupelo Pike.

During the pursuit, the vehicle began smoking and eventually caught fire.

The SPD says despite the vehicle becoming engulfed in flames, the driver continued fleeing on County Road 21 until intentionally leaving the roadway and driving into the yard of Pikeville Store & Grill.

Once the vehicle came to a stop, both occupants exited and fled on foot but were apprehended by law enforcement officers, according to the SPD.

The suspects were identified as:
Eric Henry Schroder (35 of Scottsboro)
Caitlyn Ann Bradley-Gaddis (27 of Michigan City, IN)
Both Schroder and Bradley-Gaddis were taken into custody and secured in patrol units while emergency personnel worked to extinguish the vehicle fire.
The Scottsboro Fire Department arrived on-scene and extinguished the fully engulfed vehicle, preventing extensive damage to Pikeville Store & Grill.
Schroder was arrested and charged with the following charges:
Felony Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement
Felony Using False Identity to Obstruct Justice
Bradley-Gaddis was arrested and charged with the following charge:
Domestic Violence 3rd
