Domestic violence suspect surrenders to SWAT team
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A SWAT standoff ended peacefully Tuesday in Brainerd.
Around 1:40 PM, police were called to a home on North Moore Road on a domestic violence call.
A man inside the home was accused of choking a woman and pointing a gun at her.
The woman escaped, but the man refused to come out.
The SWAT team was called in and began negotiating with the man.
Eventually 34 year old Sterling Smith walked out and surrendered.
He faces charges of domestic aggravated assault, domestic vandalism and resisting stop, frisk and halt.
